Socketed runes

Runes need Vessel of Hatred. A pair of runes in one item works together: the Rune of Ritual names an action, and doing it builds Offering. The Rune of Invocation spends that Offering to fire its effect. Offering beyond what the Invocation needs becomes overflow, which strengthens the effect.

Getting runes

Cube runewords

Runewords are crafted in the Horadric Cube. Put in a Common base item of the right type with the runes the recipe calls for, then transmute. The recipe shows ??? until every rune is in place. The order you add the runes in does not matter.
