Crafting
Masterworking
Raise every number on an item, then put a 50% bonus on one affix.
What it does
Masterworking is done at the Blacksmith and has two parts. First you raise an item's Quality, which lifts all of its numbers together. Then, at maximum Quality, one more upgrade puts a large bonus on a single affix.
Every figure in this guide was tested in game on 5 October 2026, in Season 15, by masterworking an Ancestral Legendary from Quality 0.
Quality
Each point of Quality adds 1% to the item's base stat and to every affix, including the temper. Quality stops at 25, so a finished item has 25% more of everything.
What each upgrade costs
Every upgrade costs Obducite, 10 Forgotten Souls and 250,000 gold. The Obducite rises with the item's current Quality: 10 plus 3.75 for each point it already has, rounded down.
The masterwork step
At Quality 25 the Blacksmith offers one more upgrade, which masterworks a random affix. That affix gains 50% of its original value, on top of the 25% from Quality, so it ends at 1.75 times what it dropped with.
The chosen affix gets a blue marker and its value turns orange on the tooltip.
Rerolling the bonus
If the bonus lands on the wrong affix you can reroll it as often as you can afford. The item stays at Quality 25; only the bonus moves.
Greater affixes
A greater affix is worth 25% more than the top of its normal range. Quality is worked out from the normal value and added to that bonus; the two do not multiply. In our test a tempered greater affix of 2,500, whose normal maximum is 2,000, gained 20 per Quality point and finished at 3,000.
